How was your experience with the North American Spine Team?
Patient Care Manager: The Patient Care Manager served for the most part between me and the actual doctor’s office. If I had a concern and could not communicate with the doctor’s office for whatever reason she was always there. She kept me updated as to when I was ready to go to the next step. Ultimately, surgery.
Doctor: Dr. Mark Valente was excellent. From the very first time we met I knew he was going be my surgeon. He espoused a confidence that made you feel as though you were in the best of hands. Dr. Valente and his staff were very specific as it related to the procedure that I was to undergo.
Compared to Other Healthcare: From my first encounter over the telephone with the telephone operator I was treated respectfully.
What was your lifestyle like before surgery?
My quality of life was in peril. I had a laminectomy and a Cervical Fusion prior to the lumbar procedure at North American Spine. I was still having serious leg and lower back pain the past 20 years. All three surgeries took place within the past four years. I had so much pain in my groin area that on occasion I would have to stand in one place for a period of time before I could take another step after an eight hour day at work.
What is your life like now, after surgery?
My symptoms have truly been resolved. If I had waited a month or two longer I ran the risk of becoming paralyzed.
[Now] I can stand up straighter than ever with very little to no pain. My surgery was on 8/16/2016.
What would you say to someone contemplating having a procedure with North American Spine?
I would do as I have done in the past. Give them the telephone # after I convey the great experience that I had. What I’ve been told by several friends is that NAS does accept MEDICARE? I’m 64 years old and soon I will join that crowd. I just thank GOD that I had my surgeries prior to my next birthday.
