Interspinous Process Fusion Surgery

The vertebral spinous process is a piece of bone that extends out from the lamina, at the very back of the spine column near the skin surface.  Interspinous process fusion creates stability in the spine and relieves pressure on associated nerves.  Since the spinous process is located near the skin’s surface, the fusion can be performed as a minimally invasive percutaneous (under-skin) procedure.
