Dr. Valente is a highly trained Orthopedic spine surgeon. He received his D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathy) from Nova Southeastern University in Florida, and completed his internship and residency at Michigan State University. He also completed a fellowship at the University of California at San Diego where he was mentored by Dr. Steve Garfin, a world-renowned orthopedic surgeon and spine treatment innovator. Following his appointments at Michigan State University and the University of California at San Diego, Dr. Valente went on to open his own spine surgery private practice.

Dr. Valente received the third highest score in the country on his American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery oral examination. He also placed first in a statewide Michigan State competition for medical residents.

Dr. Valente is a noted teacher and researcher. He has authored observational and outcomes studies on spine stabilization procedures like XLIF and TLIF, and written several textbook chapters on spinal trauma and the anatomy of the spinal disc. He has also served as a clinical instructor teaching orthopedics surgery and osteopathic medicine at the University of California, San Diego, and the Michigan State University.

Dr. Valente is from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. He now resides in Dallas, TX with his wife and says he is “eagerly awaiting the day when we have children to care for and raise.” Dr. Valente is a scholar of world history, religion, and sociology. He’s traveled to over 40 countries, including Greece, Egypt, China, Rwanda, Turkey, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Guatemala, Zimbabwe and Venezuela, and visited such world treasures as the Great Wall of China, the Great Pyramids, the Coliseum, and the Parthenon.
