Patient Name: Lyle R.
Age: 51
Location: Canada
Diagnosis: Diffuse disc broad based disc at L4-L5, extending into the left lateral recess and impinging upon the traversing left L5 nerve root.
Procedure Date: June 16, 2008
Type of Procedure: Foraminaplasty, DND
Pre-Surgery Life Style/ Condition: I am a non-smoker, non-alcoholic, not over weight and moderately active but I have always had some on/off mild back pain which has been treated by chiropractic care. June 2008, my disk failed and life was reduced to barely walking and my quality of life was going down rapidly.
Post Surgery Outcome: The first procedure completely removed my back pain in the disk area. I had a slight pain in my left leg which was new. The second procedure completely removed my leg pain.
I can sleep now in any position I want, I can bend over and touch my toes and dress myself. I can do all the physical work I love to do outside in my yard lifting and working with landscaping. I am careful but have my back and most of my leg lifting strength. I can sit in any position and can even sit on long car or airplane trips without any pain or problem. Every day while doing simple things, sitting or walking I constantly take notice of the normal life I can live. I cannot imagine what my life would have been if it wouldn’t have continued the way it was.
Thanks to North American Spine and all the staff for the wonderful treatment you performed, and the work you do. For the rest of my life, I will never forget the surgery that fixed the damage I had in my lower spine, and the life I was given back. I will tell my story to all my friends and the people I meet that notice or have back pain. I want to pass along my story so others that are suffering can find the same results I did. Thanks again.
